FREIGHT FORWARDERS AWARDS

The Central and Eastern regions of the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association recently presented their 10th anniversary Forwarders’ Choice Awards to ocean and air carriers in eight trade lanes: Africa, Caribbean, Latin America, Middle East, Southwest Pacific, Far East, Europe and the Mediterranean.
More than 530 people attended the Central Region awards at the Mississauga Convention Centre on May 13.
Hamburg Süd captured the honour as Ocean Carrier of the Year. It also won awards for its Latin America and Southwest Pacific services.
Air France-KLM Cargo was the winner of the Air Carrier of the Year Award. It also was recognized for its services to Africa and Europe.
Sponsors of the Central Region event were Ecu-Line Canada Inc., Gillship Navigation Inc., GTAA Toronto Pearson International Airport, LCL Navigation/Confreight Maritime Lines, Manitoulin Global Forwarding, Mellohawk Logistics Inc., Shipco Transport Inc., Adams Cargo Ltd., RS Rush Transfer Xpress Inc. and the Mississauga Convention Centre.
The Eastern Region awards were held at the Crown Plaza Hotel/Plaza Volare in Montreal on June 16 with more than 400 people in attendance.
China Ocean Shipping (Canada) Inc. took home the award for Ocean Carrier of the Year. In addition, it was honoured for its service to the Far East.
The Air Carrier of the Year Award went to Air France-KLM Cargo, which also was recognized for its Africa, Europe and Middle East services.
