Bernie Dumas, President and CEO of Nanaimo Port Authority has announced that that David Mailloux has accepted his new position as Manager, Communication & Public Affairs for the Port Authority, vacating his position as Manager, Community Relations / Marina held since April 2003.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is continuing to inform the trade about Importer Security Filing (ISF) compliance. To be fully compliant, ISFs must be filed 24 hours prior to the lading of cargo on ocean vessels. CBP recently stated that manifest holds will be put on any cargo that does not have an ISF on file 48 hours prior to arrival.

A government owned investment company, Finnish Industry Investment Ltd, has purchased a 66.4-per-cent majority stake in Aker Arctic Technology Oy (Aker Arctic) from STX Finland Oy. Aker Arctic is one of the world’s leading companies in Arctic marine logistics and offshore solutions as well Arctic vessels design. The Company’s two other shareholders, ABB Oy Finland and Norway’s Aker Engineering and Technology AS, share the remaining 33.6 per cent equally.
The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation (SLSMC) announced a toll rate increase of 2.5 per cent for the 2014 navigation season. The new revised tariff is available on its website.
The Corporation also announced that the Seaway closed for the season on January 1, 2014. The Seaway was open for 286 days, given an opening date of March 22.
