The following is a message from Bruna Rados, Director General, Major Projects Directorate, Canada Border Services Agency:
I am pleased to share with you some important news on the Canada Border Services Agency’s (CBSA) eManifest initiative.
On May 13, 2012, the CBSA deployed eManifest systems’ functionality for rail carriers to provide advance cargo and conveyance data on commercial goods coming into Canada. This means that CBSA is now able to receive advance cargo and conveyance information electronically in all modes of transportation – an important milestone that was achieved through our combined effort and shared commitment. CBSA acknowledges the support of the rail industry in the Agency’s efforts to move toward a multi-modal approach to data collection and 75
ACI/eManifest Rail Electronic Commerce Client Requirements Document (ECCRD). To request a copy of the ECCRD, please contact the CBSA’s Electronic Commerce Unit.
I am also pleased to report that since the deployment of electronic systems for highway carriers (Electronic Data Interchange and eManifest Portal), approximately 800 highway carriers have become eManifest early adopters.
Please feel free to keep abreast of eManifest requirements for commercial clients on the eManifest pages of the CBSA Web site and contact the eManifest Help Desk if further information is required.
