Since NAFTA’s implementation in 1994, overall trade between the United States, Canada, and Mexico has grown by 198 percent. U.S. goods exported to Canada and Mexico have grown 157 percent and U.S. goods imported from Canada and Mexico have grown by 231 percent. Each day, NAFTA partners conduct over $2.4 billion in trilateral goods trade, which equates to $1.7 million per minute. A growing trend is U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s increased attention to validating trade agreements. Given this increased focus by CBP, Deringer believes it is important to offer a refresher course on the most popular trade agreement in an informative 60-minute webinar entitled “The Fundamentals of NAFTA.”

The following topics will be discussed during the hour-long webcast:

• Understanding the essence of NAFTA and how a product attains eligibility

• Comprehend the difference between the tariff shift rules and the value-added rules

• Review of the A, B and C criteria and a NAFTA bill of material

• Documents required for an audit

• Auditing a certificate… in 10 seconds or less

Date recorded webinar will be available: Wednesday, April 18, 2012
