Making her first visit to Trois-Rivières, M/V Atlanticborg, owned by Royal Wagenborg of the Netherlands and sailing under Netherlands flag, was the first foreign ship to call on the Port in 2013. It arrived on January 2, at 1:20 PM. Built in China in 2012, this general cargo carrier of 143 metres in length and 22 metres in width, has a load capacity of 11,885 tonnes.

imageFrom Lake Charles, Louisiana, M/V Atlanticborg and its Ukrainian, Filipino and Vietnamese crew, delivered a cargo of 6,004 metric tons of calcined petroleum coke for the Alcoa-Deschambault aluminum smelter located some 60 kilometres Southwest of Quebec City. The vessel was moored at Section 17 of the port for one day only. During its stay in Trois-Rivières, the shipowner is represented by Lower St-Lawrence Ocean Agencies Ltd., while discharging of the cargo was undertaken by Les Élévateurs des Trois-Rivières.

The ceremony highlighting the arrival of the first ship of the year 2013 was held on January 3. To mark the occasion, a reproduction of a work of art from local artist Pierre Labrecque was presented to the ship’s master, Yevgen Novytsky.
