Position: Senior Fleet Operator

Reports to: Manager, Fleet Operations

Department: Operations

We are currently looking for a Senior Fleet Operator responsible for operating a fleet of about 8 to 10 ships within company policy guidelines and procedures.



  • Familiarization with Voyage and Time Charter contracts requirements pertaining to his/her voyages and manage post fixture matters
  • Proper voyage planning with the objective to optimize time saving and revenue, reduce costs, gather all required information
  • Elaborate and detailed bunker management planning
  • Provide timely and detailed instructions to the masters of his/her fleet
  • Appoint, evaluate, and instruct agents, surveyors, stevedores, and a weather routing company in a timely manner
  • Monitor proactively all participants and initiate preemptive or corrective action whenever required
  • Monitor cost control and maximizing revenues on all voyages
  • Ensure accuracy of daily schedules
  • Ensure proper implementation and execution of all policies and procedures
  • Prepare freight billings and approve payment of hires and miscellaneous vendor invoices
  • Monitor the issuance and on-forwarding of all cargo documents
  • Perform various clerical tasks including post-voyage analysis (financial and statistical) as well as maintain the vessel schedule in IMOS
  • Attend weekly Operations meetings and present a concise summary of any concerning issues pertaining to your vessels to all attendees
  • E-file messages concerning operations and voyage information


The ideal candidate has:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Shipping or any other related discipline
  • Minimum of three to five years of experience in fleet operationsfor an international dry bulk shipping company
  • Strong knowledge of voyage planning and management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of voyage log, and electronic voyage system (IMOS)
  • Ability to control costs
  • Proficiency with the MS Office suite
  • Fluency in English is mandatory, French is an asset

Annual Salary:  $75,000-$90,000
