The vessel M/V Mandarin, operated and chartered by Canfornav and sailing under the flag of Cyprus, is the first foreign ship of the year 2014 to arrive at the port of Trois-Rivières. It arrived on January 8. Built in China in 2003, this bulk carrier, 186.4 metres long and 23.7 metres wide, has a load capacity of 26,735 tonnes.

From Gibraltar, the M/V Mandarin and its Ukrainian crew will take on and deliver a cargo of 25,000 tonnes of Canadian grains. The vessel was moored at Section 16 of the Port of Trois-Rivières for a period of approximately one week. During its stay in Trois-Rivières, it is represented by Lower St-Lawrence Ocean Agencies Ltd while the loading of Canadian grains is undertaken by Les Élévateurs des Trois-Rivières.

The ceremony highlighting the arrival of the first ship of the year 2014 was held on January 10. To mark the occasion, a reproduction of a painting from a local artist, Caroline St-Pierre, was presented to the ship’s master, Valeriy Baranets.
