Making its first visit to Trois-Rivières, M/V Goldeneye, operated and chartered by Canfornav and sailing under the flag of Cyprus, was the first foreign ship to arrive at Port of Trois-Rivières on January 3. Built in 2014, this bulk carrier of 179.89 metres in length and 30 meters wide, has a load capacity of 35,949 tonnes.
Originating from Algiers (Algeria), M/V Goldeneye and its Ukrainian crew loaded a cargo of 28,250 tonnes of Canadian grains at the port. During its stay in Trois-Rivières, it was represented by Lower St-Lawrence Ocean Agencies Ltd while the loading was undertaken by Les Élévateurs des Trois-Rivières.
To mark the occasion, a ceremony highlighting the arrival of the first ship of the year was held during which a reproduction of a painting from a local artist, Caroline St-Pierre, was presented to the master, Yuriy Taranenko.
