Halifax Gateway Council (HGC) is hosting thirteen delegates from four companies – Seacon Logistics, Qatar Airways Cargo, US Cold Storage and Saigon Newport Corporation – who are visiting Halifax to investigate opportunities for utilizing the Halifax Gateway to move people and cargo.
“Strategically located on the East Coast of North America, the deep-water Port of Halifax and the award-winning Halifax Stanfield International Airport are the anchors of a seamlessly integrated transportation system that is open for business,” says Joyce Carter, Halifax Gateway Council Chairperson. “We have geographic advantages, an educated and reliable labour force, and over $100 billion in mega projects underway, or scheduled to get underway, in Atlantic Canada. The delegates will see first-hand the benefits of the Halifax Gateway.”
The summit will include presentations and meetings with the Port of Halifax, Halifax Stanfield International Airport, CN, Greater Halifax Partnership and all three levels of government. Infrastructure tours will also be provided including the container terminals and the Atlantic Gateway-Halifax Logistics Park, a key component of the service offering and an ideal location for freight forwarders, cargo owners, and others to either situate new cargo logistics operations or expand existing operations. There will also be one-on-one meetings with local businesses and opportunities to network with stakeholders including government partners.
