On August 22, Halifax Employers Association (HEA) again marked its commitment to community engagement by hosting the 4th annual “Hope Cottage Drive for Hope Golf Tournament”. This fundraising project helps support Hope Cottage, a local charitable institution that has been serving more than 200 meals a day to the less fortunate in downtown Halifax for over 40 years. HEA‘s goal in this endeavor is to give something back to the community that it has served since 1996 and in the process deliver a first class golf experience.
A true community effort, the tournament raised $36,000 for Hope Cottage. HEA President and CEO, Richard Moore, and Board of Directors Chair, Fritz King, presented a ceremonial cheque in that amount to Terry Power, the Executive Director of Hope Cottage, on October 10 at the Annual Hope Cottage Thanksgiving Dinner hosted by the “Friends of Hope Cottage”.
The 2013 results could not have been achieved without the generous support from Funding Partner, Mr. Chris Kritikos, and Major Sponsors; Cerescorp, Halterm Container Terminal Limited, the Halifax Port Authority, Maritime World Logistics Inc., Medavie BlueCross, Ocean Contractors and the law firm of Stewart McKelvey.
