Ledcor Resources & Transportation and Mainland Sand and Gravel announced that they have signed a long-term exclusive agreement for marine transportation services. “We are pleased that Mainland Sand and Gravel has chosen Ledcor to be their marine transportation provider,” said Paul McElligott, President, Ledcor Resources & Transportation. Ledcor will haul crushed stone and aggregate from Mainland’s Cox quarry and other river-side storage facilities to its ramps and distribution points along the Fraser River.
“Demand for Mainland Sand and Gravel quality crushed stone and aggregate products continues to grow in the Lower Mainland and along the Georgia Straight,” said Mainland Sand & Gravel President Ted Carlson. “We were looking for a long-term, customer-focused service provider that would invest in the marine transportation capacity and capabilities we need – Ledcor meets all our requirements.”
Commenting on the Ledcor investment of some $18 million in equipment, McElligott stated, “I think our level of investment speaks to the commitment we have to this partnership and to this industry.” Prior to the commencement of service on January 1, 2016, Ledcor will construct six new barges and augment its fleet of tugs. These assets will be dedicated to Mainland Sand and Gravel.
