On August 20th, with the sun sparkling on the St. Lawrence River, Mariners’ House welcomed nearly 500 guests to the Iberville Maritime Terminal for its 5th Festa Italiana fundraising luncheon. A gourmet meal was once again sponsored and prepared by the Iacono family, proprietors of the city’s renowned Muscadin Restaurant.
There were many generous contributors to the event, including Port of Montreal, Seamont Brokerage & Transport Ltd., Hunt Refrigeration (Canada) Inc., Fednav Ltd. and Montreal Gateway Terminals Partnership, whose CEO, Michael Fratianni, chairs the organizing committee.
Planning and set-up of the Festa is labour intensive and reliant on the work of dozens of volunteers. Thanks to everyone’s efforts, approximately $63,000 was realized for Mariners’ House, a welcome income for this charity which will be used in its work offering practical and morale-boosting assistance to the world’s seafarers.
