Lorraine Markin began her career with Nanaimo Port Authority in October 1987. Hailing from Slocan Park, near Nelson, B.C., Ms. Markin ventured west to start a career on Vancouver Island, settling on Nanaimo as her employment destination until October 31, 2013. “ We moved with a family of two boys in 1987, securing employment in Nanaimo and I never looked back!” comments Lorraine Markin, Nanaimo Port Authority’s Executive Assistant. “I’ve gained many exceptional contacts throughout my time in Nanaimo, and enjoyed working with 35 Directors of the Port Board, City Councillors, Administration personnel and businesses. Nanaimo’s waterfront changed dramatically in my time here, and it was great to see it develop into a world-class destination.”
