Port Metro Vancouver is pleased to congratulate Fraser Surrey Docks on its induction to the Fraser River Discovery Centre’s Hall of Fame. Fraser Surrey Docks joins a distinct group of 20 businesses, families and individuals recognized for their outstanding social or economic contribution to the Fraser River and the communities it supports. “On behalf of Port Metro Vancouver, it is my pleasure to congratulate Fraser Surrey Docks on this honour,” said Robin Silvester, President and CEO of Port Metro Vancouver.
“For 50 years, Fraser Surrey Docks has been a vital part of our living, working Fraser River and an important contributor to the prosperity of the Vancouver Gateway.”
Fraser Surrey Docks was nominated as a Hall of Fame inductee for its pioneering spirit in its development from a small terminal on the river 50 years ago to a major participant in Canada’s Asia Pacific Gateway. Since its beginnings in 1962, Fraser Surrey Docks has developed into one of the Port’s most dynamic terminals and is a key asset to the region’s trading economy. Now, Fraser Surrey Docks contributes to a vibrant river economy which generates more than $4.6 billion in GDP annually, $9.6 billion in economic output and 53,150 jobs.
Today, the port community joins in celebrating the induction of Fraser Surrey Docks into the Fraser River Discovery Centre’s Hall of Fame. Port Metro Vancouver is proud to be a long-time supporter of the Fraser River Discovery Centre – a place that connects communities in the discovery and celebration of the social, economic and environmental importance of the Fraser River.
