Handling Breakbulk, a new breakbulk safety video created with the assistance of B.C. Maritime Employers Association (BCMEA), has been submitted for the prestigious Cinema in Industry awards. The CINDYs, presented by the International Association of Audio Visual Communicators, recognize exemplary corporate achievement in the areas of theatrical, broadcast, non-broadcast and interactive media. The video was produced by DuPont Sustainable Solutions, Learning and Development, in collaboration with BCMEA, West Gulf Maritime Association, National Maritime Safety Association and a number of other shipping related organizations, and details safe operating procedures for cargo handling in the breakbulk sector. BCMEA was called upon to provide content dealing with logs, lumber and pulp.
Handling Breakbulk is the second collaborative video with which BCMEA has been associated, following the success of the steel cargo handling video, Take Hold of Your Safety. Training Manager Ted Vincent provided input to DuPont during the initial scripting phase of the project, and Field Training Supervisors Mat Campbell and Chris Fletcher organized and directed on-site shoots at Lynnterm and Fraser Surrey Docks.
During the editing process, input from BCMEA’s Vice-President of Training, Safety and Recruitment, John Beckett, played a pivotal role in ensuring that the video content met BCMEA’s high standards for overall content and gender neutrality.
